Notable injuries, news from Sunday's Week 8 games

Injuries and news we're monitoring around the league on this Week 8 Sunday:

  • The Arizona Cardinals, who were on a bye this week, had two players test positive for COVID-19 this weekend, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per informed sources. The Cardinals kept their facility closed Sunday for a deep cleaning and are slated to practice Monday, Garafolo added.
  • Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley was carted off the field and ruled out against the Steelers after suffering an ankle injury. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said after the game that he was done for the season. The All-Pro lineman signed a five-year, $98.75 million extension this past Friday. Guard Tyre Phillips did not return with an ankle injury. Linebacker Matt Judon was ejected in the second quarter for making contact with an official.
  • Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said defensive end Myles Garrett came out of Sunday's loss to the Raiders with a knee injury. The star pass rusher will undergo an MRI on Monday morning. Defensive tackle Vincent Taylor exited early and was evaluated for a concussion.
  • Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey was ruled out against the Dolphins because of an illness. He was active Sunday but the team announced his status had changed soon after the opening kickoff. NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported Ramsey's illness was not related to COVID-19. Second-year CB David Long started in Ramsey's place. Running back Darrell Henderson exited early with a thigh injury.
  • San Francisco 49ers running back Tevin Coleman has been ruled out against the Seahawks after suffering a knee injury in the first half. Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles has also been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
  • Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton did not return after against the Lions after suffering a groin injury. Wide receiver Ashton Dulin exited early with a knee injury. Coach Frank Reich said cornerback Rock Ya-Sin is being evaluated for a concussion.
  • Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay suffered a hip injury against the Colts and did not return. Wide receiver Jamal Agnew was ruled out with a ribs injury.
  • Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse did not return against the Patriots after suffering a concussion.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Tyson Alualu exited early against the Ravens with a knee injury. Linebacker Avery Williamson is heading from the only winless team in the league to the only undefeated team. Williamson is being traded from the Jets to the Steelers, Rapoport reported. A starter for four seasons with the Titans, Williamson has started six games this season with the Jets after starting 16 last year. The Steelers are sending their 2020 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Williamson and the Jets' 2022 seventh-round pick.
  • Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler suffered a neck injury and is also being evaluated for a concussion. Dantzler, who was recently activated from the COVID-19 list, was taken off the field on a stretcher. The team announced Dantzler has full movement of his body and underwent an X-ray at Lambeau Field. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
  • Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Maurice Hurst suffered an ankle injury and did not return against the Browns. Offensive tackle Sam Young (knee) and safety Jeff Heath (hip) exited early.
  • Miami Dolphins running back Patrick Laird (ankle) exited early against the Rams.
  • Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darius Phillips exited early against the Titans with a groin injury.
  • Tennessee Titans wide receiver Adam Humphries was carted off the field after taking a hit to the head by a Bengals defender and was ruled out with a concussion.
  • New England Patriots defensive tackle Lawrence Guy was ruled out against the Bills with a shoulder injury. Linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley exited early with a groin injury.
  • Chicago Bears tackle Bobby Massie (knee) is questionable to return against the Saints. Defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris (shoulder) is also questionable. Bears WR Javon Wims was ejected in the third quarter for throwing a punch.
  • Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa exited in the fourth quarter against the Broncos to be evaluated for a concussion.
  • Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that safety Jamal Adams (groin/illness) will return in Week 9. Carroll also said the status of running back Chris Carson(foot) for next week remains unknown. The 'Hawks beat the 49ers, 37-27.
  • New Olreans Saints DT Sheldon Rankins is believed to have suffered a mild MCL sprain, Rapoport reported. He'll have an MRI on his knee Monday to confirm.
  • Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay (ankle) left Sunday night's game early.
  • Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said after Sunday night's loss that quarterback Andy Dalton (concussion) was doing significantly better on Saturday and McCarthy believes Dalton is close to returning and should be in line to start against the Steelers in Week 9.
