Injury roundup: Giants LB Brian Burns (groin) expected to play vs. Browns

New York Giants linebacker Brian Burns (groin) should be good to go for the team's game versus the Cleveland Browns, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources. Burns is officially active.

Burns popped up on the Giants' injury report on Friday as a limited participant with the groin injury, leading to a questionable designation heading into the Week 3 matchup. Luckily for Big Blue, it appears the last-minute injury will not keep their star defender off the field this Sunday.

New York acquired Burns via trade this offseason and gave him a five-year, $150 million extension, bolstering their pass rush with the addition of the two-time Pro Bowler.

Through two games, Burns hasn't yet recorded a sack, but has seven tackles and a pass defensed, and will look to build on that against Cleveland.

The Giants (0-2) and Browns (1-1) kick off at 1 p.m. ET.

Other injuries we are keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday's Week 3 games:

  • Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Jedrick Wills (knee; questionable) is expected to make his season debut versus the New York Giants, Rapoport reported. Wills is officially active.
  • Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Mazi Smith (back) will play versus the Ravens, NFL Network's Jane Slater reported, per sources. Smith is officially active.
  • Houston Texans running back Cam Akers will get the start versus Minnesota with Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) out with injury, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on NFL GameDay Morning.
  • Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who is dealing with back and calf injuries, is expected to play versus the Chicago Bears, according to Rapoport. Pittman is officially active.
  • Las Vegas Raiders defense end Maxx Crosby (ankle) and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins (knee) -- both listed as questionable versus the Panthers -- are expected to play, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported on NFL GameDay Morning. Crosby and Wilkins are officially active.
  • Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (quad) is expected to a be a full go on Sunday versus the Texans, Pelissero reported on NFL GameDay Morning. Jefferson, who suffered the injury last Sunday and forced an early exit, didn't miss a practice this past week.
  • New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill (chest) has been downgraded to out versus the Eagles.
  • Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) is expected to play versus the Green Bay Packers, per Rapoport. Spears is officially active.
