Free agency Day 7: Justin Hunter signs with Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers added depth at wideout on Wednesday.

Former second-round pick Justin Hunterwill join Antonio Brown and Co. in the Steelers receivers room on a one-year contract, Pittsburgh announced. Hunter has never totaled more than 498 yards receiving since entering the league in 2013, but is still a downfield threat thanks to his speed.

Hunter bolsters the Steelers' receiving depth after they lost Markus Wheaton to the Bears in free agency and still await news on Martavis Bryant's suspension that kept him out all of 2016.

  1. The Lions signed long-snapper Don Muhlbach, the team announced. Guard Tim Lelito is visiting the Lions on Wednesday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source.
  1. Linebacker Connor Barwin will meet with the Rams on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
  1. Former Bills linebacker Zach Brown is visiting the Raiders, Rapoport reported, per a source.
  1. The Vikings are bringing back cornerback Terence Newman, the team announced. The 38-year-old veteran is second in interceptions among active players with 41.
  1. Center Joe Hawley re-signed with the Buccaneers on a two-year deal, the team announced. Hawley became a full-time starter last season.
  1. The Redskins announced they've re-signed defensive end Ziggy Hood and offensive lineman Vinston Painter.

Washington also announced the release of veteran defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois. Francois started seven games over two seasons in D.C.

  1. Former Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poevisited the Dolphins on Wednesday, the team announced.
  1. The Vikingsannounced their Wednesday visit with former Packers tight end Jared Cook has concluded.
