Walker earned 2007 third-team All-American honors with 45 tackles and 14 tackles for loss, including a team-high 8.5 sacks. His numbers dropped a bit (33 tackles, 8.5 TFL, three sacks) his senior year, but he was named first-team All-ACC for the second straight season. Walker will fit well in a one-gap system where he can use his leverage and relentlessness to his advantage.

One of the better stories in college football, Ogbonnaya finally got his chance to shine after Jamaal Charles declared for the 2008 draft. He entered his senior season having carried the ball only 66 times in three years and switching from tailback to receiver and back multiple times.
In Texas' Colt McCoy-driven offense (the quarterback was the leading passer and rusher), Ogbonnaya only managed 73 rushes for 373 yards and four scores n 2008, but his 46 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns also caught scouts' eyes. His play on coverage units also makes him a draft-able prospect. Had an arm span of 31 5/8 inches and a hand span of 9 7/8 inches at the combine.

Turned down offers from several Big 12 schools to attend Tennessee State, where he could play right away. And play he did, as Williams rushed for 4,329 yards and 42 touchdowns while averaging almost 15 catches for 222 yards per season as a four-year starter. Although he lacks elite 40-yard dash times (an overrated measure for most running backs), the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year is a legitimate mid-round prospect because of his size and underrated quickness as an inside runner. Had an arm span of 31 1/2 inches and a hand span of 9 1/4 inches at the combine.

A former walk-on, Fanaika has used his unique combination of size, surprising foot quickness and determination to develop into one of the better, more underrated interior linemen in the country. Fanaika has intriguing upside for the next level -- if scouts can find a place for him. Despite starting three years at right guard for the Sun Devils, Fanaika's struggles with leverage could pose problems against shorter, powerful defensive tackles. There are some who believe Fanaika's future lies at right tackle, where his size and arm length could be beneficial, but with questionable lateral quickness and no experience outside, it is a projection likely only worthy of a late-round pick. Had an arm span of 35 inches and a hand span of 10 7/8 inches at the combine.

The Dolphins took a big corner in Vontae Davis, something they'll need with Terrell Owens and Randy Moss in the division. Davis had some questions surrounding him but Bill Parcells and his staff will make sure he tows the line. The second-round selection of Pat White screams that the Wildcat is going to be expanded and that spells trouble for opponents. Sean Smith reminds Parcells of Albert Lewis and, as always, he looks for players that remind him of former greats. The selection of big wide receiver Patrick Turner in the third round will give the team a presence in the red zone. They still need to find a young nose tackle to complete a good year's work.

Offensive tackle Andre Smith can run block with the best of them, LB Rey Maualuga will take over the image of the defense, DE Michael Johnson is an athlete who can be schemed into the pass rush and TE Chase Coffman could become to Carson Palmer what Jason Witten is to Tony Romo. The Bengals still need a solid defensive tackle and should pursue one if he comes available this spring.

Munnerlyn started 28 games in three seasons at South Carolina. He's blessed with a rare combination of straight-line speed and agility, plus legitimate cover corner potential. But his lack of size may force him inside. Recognized by conference coaches as a first-team All-SEC cornerback as a true sophomore, opponents rarely challenged his side of the field in 2008. His playmaking ability translated to special teams, where Munnerlyn established himself among the conference's best return specialists.

Here's a team building its first 3-4 defense and committed to the project in the draft. B.J. Raji gives them the nose tackle and LB Clay Matthews gives them the right outside linebacker. T.J. Taylor replaced All-American LaRon Landry in 2007 and proved capable of handling the challenge, posting 54 tackles and three interceptions. His production dropped in 2008 (43 tackles, one for loss, two INT), partially because he missed three starts due to injury but also because his inconsistent play allowed younger players to earn playing time late in the season.

The Bills traded away all-pro tackle Jason Peters and never replaced him. Defensive end Aaron Maybin will be the excellent situational pass rusher that they desperately need and Eric Wood was a very highly regarded center who should win the job. Tight end Shawn Nelson is just the guy they need to threaten the middle of the field with T.O. and Lee Evans working the outside. A veteran left tackle would complete a good offseason.

Williams looks like a fullback and plays like a wide receiver. His production (54 catches, 687 yards, six touchdowns) and leadership made him the team's 2008 Most Valuable Player. And his versatility put him on the NFL draft map. Whether it's at fullback or H-back, the versatility of the first-team All-WAC pick could make him a tough player to keep off someone's roster next September. Had an arm span of 31 3/4 inches and a hand span of 9 inches at the combine.

If you study Bill Polian's decisions since he arrived in Indianapolis, the selection of RB Donald Brown is no surprise. He moved Marshall Faulk for Edgerrin James. He let James go for Joseph Addai and someday he will do the same to Addai for Brown. Fili Moala gives the Colts a big inside defensive lineman to slow the run game down and Curtis Painter is an interesting QB candidate that Polian had his eye on months ago.

Nolan was forced to redshirt in 2006 after suffering a knee injury in only his third practice with the Sun Devils. Returned to the field in 2007, when he left little doubt about his athleticism, starting all 13 games and leading the team with six interceptions -- two of which he returned for a touchdown. Nolan's propensity for making the big play showed up again in 2008, as he picked off another four passes and returned two of them (along with a fumble) to give him five defensive touchdowns in only two seasons of Pac-10 play. If he can improve on his marginal 40 time, Nolan could emerge as one of the hotter safety prospects in this draft.

Byrd signed with LSU as one of the elite JUCO prospects in the country. He led the team with seven touchdown receptions in his first season, six of which came against elite SEC competition. But Byrd's senior season was a bit disappointing, as he failed to step up in the primary receiver role (37 receptions for 499 yards and four touchdowns). His value appears to be as a complementary receiver at the next level. Had an arm span of 33 3/8 inches and a hand span of 9 inches at the combine.

The Broncos shocked a lot of people when they selected RB Knowshon Moreno after signing three running backs in free agency. On top of the surplus of runners is the need to build a 3-4 defense from the floor up. The team's biggest issues are in the front seven and despite getting a legitimate player in DE Robert Ayers, they may be two years away from a true 3-4 defense. They still need a nose tackle and a big inside linebacker. The two defensive backs picked in the second round -- Alphonso Smith and Darcel McBath -- raised some eyebrows, especially when they gave away a first-round pick next year to get Smith. That's only setting the time table back to construct a 3-4.

After playing on both lines as a redshirt freshman, recording two sacks in limited playing time at defensive tackle, Shipley manned the pivot for the Nittany Lions for every game the past three years. A dominant performer since stepping onto the field for the Bearcats, Mickens earned second-team All-Big East accolades his first two seasons and first-team honors in 2007 (six interceptions) and '08 (70 tackles, four interceptions, nine pass breakups). Mickens plays with the legitimate speed and burst to the ball to force opposing quarterbacks to think twice before challenging his side of the field. There are concerns, however, about his pure speed. A medical check is required after he had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in November, although he did play pretty well at less than full strength in the Orange Bowl.

Murtha is a prototypical smart, big and strong Nebraska lineman, but it's been tough for him to stay on the field. He missed the first two games of last season with a staph infection and the final two games with a sprained foot, the last four games of 2007 with a foot injury and his entire freshman season with various ailments (bruised calf, hamstring, shoulder).
Murtha did start games in all four of his seasons in Lincoln, at left and right tackle. His size, strength and relative athleticism make him a solid late-round pick or priority free agent at right tackle. Had an arm span of 33 7/8 inches and a hand span of 10 1/8 inches at the combine.

Oklahoma's offense has so many stars that a solid contributor like Johnson can go unnoticed. While not particularly tall, strong or fast, Johnson's consistent production over the past three seasons in a complementary role has not gone unnoticed by scouts.
His 42 catches for 714 yards and nine touchdowns in 2008 would have increased if not for a grotesquely dislocated elbow injury suffered against Kansas. Given his tough play on the field and work ethic in practice, it was no surprise when he returned with a brace after missing only one game. A former walk-on who transferred after one season at Frostburg State, he immediately made an impression on the Maryland coaches even during his NCAA mandated transfer season, earning scout MVP accolades twice. Played sparingly behind Erin Henderson at weak-side linebacker in 2006, but switched to the strong side in 2007 and started the next two years there, registering 84 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles in 2007 and emerging as the only ACC defender to record more than 75 tackles (77) and five sacks on the year. Despite his experience there, lacks the bulk scouts prefer, but his athleticism and secure tackling make him a potential immediate special teamer and an intriguing developmental prospect for the weakside.

Bill Belichick loves the second round and has no interest in a high-priced first-round player that will upset the chemistry in his locker room. The Patriots used four picks in the second round and parlayed other picks into two additional second-round picks next year. Coach Belichick considers Patrick Chung is a very bright safety who makes the calls and adjustments, and third-round linebacker Tyrone McKenzie has played in so many systems that he can eventually help out at all the linebacker spots. Ron Brace, the Boston College nose tackle, may leverage the club against the contract demands of Vince Wilfork down the road. It will be tough for 12 draft picks to make this Patriots team, but they should also have a very good practice squad. They may still be in the market for a veteran outside pass rusher.

For his first two years in Corvallis, Stroughter was primarily a return specialist. That all changed in 2006, as he accumulated 1,293 yards on 74 receptions -- and still managed to score three touchdowns on punt returns.
Unfortunately, he could not follow up that second-team All-Pac-10 performance in 2007 due to his battle with depression and a lacerated kidney. He came back from that redshirt season with a vengeance as a senior, earning first-team all-conference accolades by catching 70 passes for 1,040 yards and seven scores.
Stroughter's combination of receiving and return skills could land him a spot on an NFL roster in 2009. Had an arm span of 29 1/2 inches and a hand span of 9 inches at the combine.

A punishing hitter, Follett capitalized on Cal's switch to the 3-4 defense to post the best numbers of his career as a senior, registering an eye-popping 23 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and forcing five fumbles. Considering the success he enjoyed while operating on the strong side in 2007, when Cal was in the 4-3 alignment, Follett is clearly not just a product of the system. In '07, his first season as a full-time starter, Follett earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors in leading Cal with 12.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks despite missing two games. One of the more physical and intense defenders in the country, the knock on Follett is the perception that he's best going forward and may be too stiff in coverage for some schemes.

A three-year starter at left guard for the Terrapins, Thomas developed into an honorable mention ACC pick as a senior and could have contended for higher honors if not for an inconsistent offense. NFL teams looking for a drive-blocking guard will scout Thomas closely. Big and strong, Thomas is at his best attacking in short areas and driving straight ahead to create holes. Though he flashes the quickness to get to the second level, Thomas' lack of balance and agility in the open field doesn't make him a fit for zone-blocking teams. So many needs and not enough quality picks. Defensive end Tyson Jackson was a good start and reminds Scott Pioli of Richard Seymour, the guy they built the Patriots defense around. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is suited to replace Amani Toomer in time and Ramses Barden is a physical clone of Plaxico Burress, which gives them a big red zone target. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he was very excited about what Beanie Wells brings to the team as a big-play back who has already performed well in University of Phoenix Stadium in bowl games. Defensive end Cody Brown gives them a hybrid player who can rush the passer with a good bend in his turn off the tackle or occasionally drop into coverage, according to Whisenhunt. Herman Johnson is a massive offensive lineman who Russ Grimm wants to work with and should really protect the launch point for Kurt Warner. Likewise, guard and seventh-round pick Trevor Canfield will make summer camp interesting with his reputation as a tenacious player always ready to rumble.

The Mesa (Ariz.) Community College transfer has developed into one of the country's most feared big-play threats. He's had similar production in his first two years, leading the Wolfpack in receptions (53 in 2007, 61 in 2008), receiving yards (1,129, 1,141) and receiving touchdowns (eight, ten). He ranked second in the nation averaging 21.3 yards per catch as a junior, but finally made first team All-WAC this season. Those outstanding numbers are boosted by Nevada's unique "pistol" offense, but his rare combination of height and straight-line speed makes him a difficult matchup for any cornerback. It was a bumpy ride for Jean-Francois in Baton Rouge. One of the top high school recruits in the country, he contributed as a freshman in 2006 (5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks) after a redshirt season in 2005. He missed the first 12 games due to academic problems as a sophomore, then won defensive MVP honor in the national title game against Ohio State after making six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and blocking a field goal. His junior season was also adversity-filled. He started only six of 11 games in which he played due to a groin injury and the deep, talented LSU line. He made 20 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks during the season. His public comment about taking a "good shot" at Florida QB Tim Tebow did not endear him to coaches. His strength at the point and athleticism deserve a high grade.

Greene was a first-team All-Big East pick in 2008 after twice earning second-team All-Big East notice and also Freshman All-American honors. When you add Jay Cutler to the draft, it might be the best in the NFL. The Bears had no first day picks, but still managed to grab the very athletic defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias. later-round picks like CB D.J. Moore and LB Marcus Freeman should make the team and contribute on special teams and as backups. They don't need much more for 2009.

A month before the draft, the Seahawks didn't figure Aaron Curry would fall to them. But after trading away Julian Peterson to the Lions, it all fell in place that his replacement would be right there at the top of the draft. Max Unger is a versatile lineman that has played tackle, guard and center and will break into the starting lineup this summer. Keep your eye on Rutgers QB Mike Teel. He will sit for a few years behind Matt Hasselbeck but he has the skills to play in the NFL. The team could still use a corner and a left tackle.

PROSPECT ANALYSIS
A heavily-recruited high school defensive end who quickly made the move to offense, Morrah capitalized on an impressive junior season to declare early for the NFL Draft. As the primary backup behind current Tennessee Titan tight end Craig Stevens in 2007, Morrah caught 13 passes for 155 yards and a score in 2007.
After Stevens moved on to the next level, Morrah emerged as one of the best red-zone weapons in the country, scoring eight touchdowns on only 27 receptions. Morrah's decision to leave early was a bit surprising, considering how raw he remains as a blocker, but his size and athletic ability will likely assure him of earning a draft selection - even if it is during the middle to late rounds. Had an arm span of 33 1/2 inches and a hand span of 9 1/2 inches at the combine.

A Walter Camp All-American who transferred from Pittsburgh after a successful freshman season (411 rushing yards) to be closer to his father, who suffers from diabetes. Jennings had surgery on a broken pinky finger in early September last season, but still rushed for 1,500 yards (his third consecutive 1,000-yard season) with his bruising yet nimble running style. The twice-named Big South Offensive Player of the Year also showed some versatility by making 24 receptions in 2008. Had an arm span of 32 inches and a hand span of 10 3/8 inches at the combine.

PROSPECT ANALYSIS
Coming into his senior season, Underwood was a mid-round prospect because of his quickness and productivity. But like most of the rest of the Rutgers team, his stock fell early in 2008 because of inconsistent play. The 2007 first team All-Big East selection saw his production almost cut in half this year: 65-1100-7 to 40-494-5. Late in the fall, however, Underwood turned up the volume. His nine catches for 139 yards and three scores in wins against Louisville and North Carolina State helped end the Scarlet Knights' season on an up note. Had an arm span of 32 1/4 inches and a hand span of 8 1/2inches at the combine.

A strong and dependable interior blocker, Canfield has started since the end of his redshirt freshman season, missing only one game in his college career. A three-time second-team All-Big East pick -- as a left guard in 2007 and right guard in '06 and '08. NFL teams using a zone-blocking scheme will especially like his ability to block on the move. He may even make the move to right tackle because of his size and athleticism. Had an arm span of 32 inches and a hand span of 9 1/4 inches at the combine.

The Gronkowski family is full of athletes. Dan is one of five brothers, including the Arizona Wildcats' Chris and Rob (a junior who earned consensus All-Pac-10 accolades in 2008). Their father, Gordie Sr., played on the offensive line at Syracuse. Dan's older brother, Chris, played three years in the California Angels organization.
Despite starting 17 games in 2006-07, Gronkowski was primarily used as a blocker early in his career, catching only 11 passes for 114 yards during that time. Though his senior numbers were far from eye-popping (29-287-3), scouts felt he emerged in 2008 and league coaches agreed, awarding him honorable mention All-ACC honors.
Gronkowksi's size, blocking skills and ability to move the chains could make him a solid reserve tight end in the NFL. Had an arm span of 34 1/2 inches and a hand span of 10 1/2 inches at the combine.

So many needs and not enough quality picks. Defensive end Tyson Jackson was a good start and reminds Scott Pioli of Richard Seymour, the guy they built the Patriots defense around. Defensive tackle Alex Magee looked good at the Senior Bowl and should get some work in a rotation at defensive end, but they still need pass rushers. After minicamps, we may see a deal for a veteran.
