Greene returned from a one-year hiatus at Kirkwood Community College and working at a furniture store to finish second in the country in rushing with 1,850 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2008. After running for a total of 205 yards over his first two seasons in Iowa City, Greene emerged as the country's most consistent runner, rushing for at least 100 yards in all 13 of Iowa's games last year, including a 121-yard, three-touchdown performance against a stout South Carolina defense in the Hawkeyes' 31-10 Outback Bowl victory. Five years removed from high school (he spent one year at Milford Academy after graduation), the 2008 Doak Walker Award winner and consensus All-American decided to leave for the NFL. Had an arm span of 31 3/4 inches and a hand span of 8 1/2 inches at the combine.

Fletcher leaves Iowa with only one season as a full-time starter. Many view him as an ascending talent worthy of strong second-day consideration. A part-time starter in 2006 and '07, Fletcher established himself as a senior, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten with 60 tackles, three interceptions and 10 passes broken up. Scouts are intrigued that Fletcher seemed to improve as he gained experience. He was arguably best against South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, registering four solo tackles, a forced fumble and an interception in the end zone, helping the Hawkeyes in their 31-10 victory. Fletcher's follow-up was an impressive week of practice at the East-West Shrine Game. Scouts contend he was far and away the best cornerback at that game.

A 22-game starter his first three seasons with the Boilermakers at defensive tackle, Magee moved outside to defensive end as a senior. While the switch didn't pay off with eye-popping statistics in 2008 (28 tackles, six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks), Magee did show versatility in the switch and scouts were already intrigued by his combination of size, strength and hand technique. A strong week of practice at the Senior Bowl has Magee's stock escalating as the draft approaches and, unlike some of this year's better defensive line prospects, all teams see elements of Magee's game that can fit in their scheme.

The 2008 WAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year -- with an eye-popping 22 tackles for loss -- Gilbert was characterized by some as a product of the Spartans' aggressive defense until, that is, he proved to be arguably the most dominant presence at the East-West Shrine Game. The question for scouts now isn't whether Gilbert can play, but at which position to utilize his unique combination of size and athletic ability. Gilbert signed with San Jose State as a 240-pound defensive end in 2004. He added over 40 pounds since and has the frame to add even more. ... The son of former New Orleans Saints' offensive tackle Daren Gilbert, Jarron has incredible athleticism for his size and could be just scratching the surface of his potential.

It was unusual to see the Cowboys silent on the first day of the draft. With so many picks on the second day, most observers felt Jerry Jones would package up a few and get in the first day action. The Cowboys took a lot of players that will help on special teams, with Jason Williams having an outside chance to start at linebacker. The Cowboys could still use an offensive guard but it's not a big priority.

To this point, however, that's mostly what Johnson has been -- potential. He garnered first-team All-ACC honors as a senior with 17.5 TFL and nine sacks but his play was spotty. A lot of his numbers were amassed against poor competition. Johnson might have a future as a pass-rushing linebacker in the 3-4 scheme so he can use his length and agility in coverage.

Injuries followed Shaughnessy throughout his career at Wisconsin. He spent last fall recovering from a broken right fibula suffered during spring 2008 practice. In 2007, he managed to get back on the field after tearing his ACL at the end of 2006. He also missed the end of his freshman season with a knee injury. To his credit, Shaughnessy has not missed much time despite being banged up. He made 18.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks in 2007, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors, but his numbers went down as a senior (eight tackles for loss, four sacks) and was named honorable mention all-conference.

The 2008 first-team All-MAC pick contributed heavily as a true freshman (after a post-graduate year at Milford Academy) before earning the starting nod in each of the next three seasons. He averaged 56 tackles, 7.5 for loss and four pass breakups from 2006-2008, while recovering six fumbles and blocking four kicks over the past two years. Teams looking for a one-gap 4-3 nose tackle will be most interested in Knighton.

Instead of moving out of the No. 8 spot in the first round, the Jaguars got a 10-year offensive tackle in Eugene Monroe and came right back in the second round for another tackle, Eben Britton. Overnight the Jags turned a weakness into a big strength. They may have considered a quarterback but they will like the wide receivers they picked. Mike Thomas and Jarett Dillard can really catch the ball and move the chains. Rashard Jennings, the running back out of Liberty, was a steal at pick No. 250 and will be a capable backup to Maurice Jones-Drew.

Despite surprising many with his early declaration, Coffee should find NFL success with his combination of size, strength and surprising burst in the open field. Though he shared carries amongst 'Bama's talented stable of backs, Coffee emerged as the Tide's bell-cow back down the stretch, finishing with 1,383 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. His total pushed him ahead of former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander for second on the Tide's single-season rushing list behind only Bobby Humphrey's 1,471 yards in 1986. Belying the traditional Alabama role of just a physical runner, Coffee is also a very good receiver out of the backfield, averaging 17 receptions for 130 yards the past two seasons. As with many tackles coming to the NFL as products of the spread offense, however, scouts are curious to see how effective Brewster would be in the running game out of a three-point stance. Often overshadowed by Texas' multitude of other standouts, Miller was key to the Longhorns' success over the past four seasons. He lacks the eye-popping size and speed numbers NFL scouts look for, though his production is sure to attract attention. A veteran of 49 games with the Longhorns, Miller leaves with 138 career tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks including 49-11-5.5 as a senior in earning first-team All-Big 12 honors as voted by the conference coaches. The defensive MVP in Texas' victory over Ohio State in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl (2.5 tackles, one TFL, one sack) also had a strong performance during the East-West Shrine Game and is a candidate to move up draft boards.

After operating primarily as a return specialist (albeit a very good one) in his first three years at Chapel Hill, Tate really climbed boards as a receiver at the start of the 2008 season with 16 catches for 376 yards and three touchdowns in his first six games. His exploits as a receiver coincided with his continued proficiency as a return specialist, setting the career record for total return yardage (3,523 yards).
Unfortunately, he tore his right ACL and MCL in October, cutting his magical senior year short. He still earned honorable mention All-ACC as a returner despite missing more than half the season. If his knee is healthy come draft day, Tate could be one of three Tar Heel receivers earning draft selections in 2009 along with Hakeem Nicks and Brooks Foster. Few attributes attract NFL scouts more than pure speed. Wallace certainly has that. Despite starting three years for the Rebels, he didn't establish himself as one capable of taking advantage of his speed until he averaged 18.9 yards on 38 receptions as a junior. A year later, Wallace's speed was even more lethal, as he averaged 20.1 yards per reception and scored a career-high seven touchdowns.
Wallace is still a work in progress as a route-runner, but his ability to stretch defenses deep as an outside receiver and special teams wide on kickoff returns could land him a second-day draft selection from an NFL team looking to catch lightning in a bottle. An athletic cover corner with the speed and experience as a kick returner to potentially make an immediate contribution in the NFL, Allen elected to leave after his junior season. Allen didn't record an interception in 2008 and leaves Georgia with only three over his career, despite starting 24 games. Allen appeared poised to establish himself as one of the better all-around young cornerbacks in the SEC by starting 11 games as a sophomore. He racked up 64 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions and averaged 24.6 yards per kickoff return as an 11-game starter and much was expected of his junior season. A broken hand limited his effectiveness in 2008, and opposing offenses often elected to challenge the other side of the Georgia defense, leaving Allen with few opportunities to make plays. Allen has enough upside to warrant consideration in the early rounds, but the perception that he hasn't yet arrived could make him a second-day choice.

High profile disappointments Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett might have tainted scouts' perceptions of tall USC receivers, but a breakout 2008 campaign and subsequent impressive Senior Bowl has scouts rethinking their stance on Turner.
After only flashing the potential promised when the highly-regarded high school recruit from Nashville signed with the Trojans, Turner finally unleashed his talents in his senior season, earning second-team All-Pac-10 accolades by catching 49 passes for 741 yards and 10 touchdowns. With a playmaker opposite him (junior Damian Williams), Turner's 6-5, 221-pound frame and surprisingly quick feet helped him become one of the country's better possession receivers.
If similarly protected in the NFL, he could be the first big receiver from the land of Troy since Keyshawn Johnson to make good on his unique talents. Had an arm span of 33 1/4 inches and a hand span of 9 5/8 inches at the combine.

With steadier quarterback play by the Gamecocks, many believe Cook could have enjoyed a truly breakout performance. If he works out as well at the NFL Combine as he reportedly did for South Carolina coaches, the redshirt junior won't have to wait long to hear his name called on draft day. After establishing himself as a playmaker, opposing offenses elected not to challenge him as often in 2008 and that fact, along with a nagging hamstring injury, limited Powers to only 47 tackles and two interceptions. A former walk-on running back, Johnson played a key role in Alabama's renaissance. An instinctive defender characterized as a coach on the field, Johnson was repeatedly able to make big plays for the Crimson Tide at critical moments, including intercepting three passes in Nick Saban's triumphant return to Tiger Stadium. Scouts love Johnson's cerebral play, but some have reservations about his size and open-field tackling at the NFL level. Unless he's able to pack on some pounds and still post an impressive workout, the All-American could be waiting until the second day of the draft to hear his name called.

Teammate Brandon Hughes might get more attention, but opponents chose not to throw to Lewis' side of the field, limiting his playmaking opportunities. He was honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2008 with three interceptions and eight pass breakups. For his career, he has six interceptions and 29 breakups. A 45-game starter, Lewis has the experience in the pass-happy Pac-10 to be able to make an early contribution to an NFL franchise. Blessed with a long, lanky build, strong hand punch and an explosive burst to close, Lewis is well-suited to the aggressive man-to-man schemes Oregon State prefers. He lacks the eye-popping athleticism and gaudy interception totals to warrant a first-round pick, but could ultimately be a better NFL corner than players drafted ahead of him.

A double-transfer who originally signed with Michigan State, McKenzie transferred first to Iowa State and then to South Florida in an attempt to be closer to his mother, who was struggling with health issues. Scouts love that regardless of which uniform he wore, McKenzie always produced. The versatile linebacker has put up 100-plus tackles at middle linebacker for the Cyclones (129 in 2006) and on the strong side (114 in 2007, 116 in '08) for the Bulls. A solid performance with yet another team -- the South team during the Senior Bowl -- could have secured his status as a first-day selection.

Given a second-round grade last year by the NFL Advisory Committee and blessed with a combination of size, route-running and soft hands to emerge as an immediate NFL contributor, Coffman ranks as one of the elite pass-catchers of the 2009 draft. The 2008 Mackey Award winner finished with better production in just his senior campaign (90 receptions for 987 yards and 10 touchdowns) than some of his top-ranked competition enjoyed over their entire career. Despite his eye-popping production, Coffman isn't a player without warts. His already questionable speed has been lessened the past two years due to repeated foot injuries, including the broken toe that could keep him sidelined through the Combine. Had an arm span of 33 1/2 inches and a hand span of 9 3/4 inches at the combine.

Iglesias didn't get as much publicity as Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Sam Bradford, tight end Jermaine Gresham or even former Sooner wide receiver Malcolm Kelly, but all he did was lead Oklahoma in receptions (68 in 2007, 74 in 2008) and receiving yards (907, 1,150) the past two seasons.
He also scored 10 times as a senior en route to second-team All-Big 12 honors, which was a difficult task given the conference's prolific offenses. More solid than flashy, Iglesias' size, speed and ability to gain yards after the catch make him a natural for the West Coast Offense. His experience as a kick returner (876 yards in '07, 475 in '08) also adds value. Had an arm span of 31 inches and a hand span of 9 1/2 inches at the combine.

Beckum is a pass-catching specialist built more like an overgrown receiver than a traditional NFL tight end. He had 75 catches for 982 yards and six touchdowns in an All-American junior season, but his growth was stunted a bit as he missed the last half of 2008 with a broken left fibula. Played linebacker his first season at Wisconsin after an outstanding high school career on defense, so his potential as a mismatch for safeties and linebackers is still untapped. Durability concerns and differing opinions on his value may cause Beckham's stock to drop, especially if he's not fully healthy for workouts. Had an arm span of 34 inches and a hand span of 9 inches at the combine.
