Injury roundup: Saints' Payton injures leg

The Injury Roundup is back for Week 6 with a look around the league at the latest injury updates and reports.

» Unfortunately for Sean Payton, he's the first coach to ever make the weekly injury roundup. Payton suffered a torn medial collateral ligament and broken tibia plateau in his left leg during a collision with TE Jimmy Graham early in the first quarter of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.

» Go figure: Not one, but two NFL coaches were injured in Week 6. The St. Petersburg Times reportedBuccaneers defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake suffered a torn left patellar tendon while celebrating with Tanard Jackson after his second-quarter interception.

» Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester left Sunday night's game against Minnesota early in the fourth quarter with a chest injury after scoring two long touchdowns.

» Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said SS Troy Polamaluhad concussion-like symptoms after exiting late against the Jaguars. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Polamalu's injury is not serious. The Steelers also lost RG Doug Legursky (dislocated toe), FS Ryan Clark (shoulder) and DT Chris Hoke (stinger), who Tomlin said would all be evaluated.

» A tough break for Raiders QB Jason Campbell, who exited after a second-quarter run against the Browns with a broken right collar bone. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported Campbell is likely out for the rest of the regular season.

» The Redskinslost three offensive starters with serious injuries. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said TE Chris Cooley would need surgery on a fractured left index finger and LT Trent Williams sustained a high right ankle sprain. The worse news came on LG Kory Lichtensteiger, who told NFL.com he was done for the season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee.

» The Michael Vick Injury Watch continued in Week 6. Vick left briefly against the Redskins after having the wind knocked out of him during the third quarter but returned on the next series.

» The Bills ruled out LT Chris Hairston due to an ankle injury.

» Panthers SS Sherrod Martin wasn't able to finish the game against the Falcons due to an illness, according to the game's Fox broadcast.

» Packers coach Mike McCarthy said CB Sam Shieldswas being evaluated after sustaining a head injury against the Rams. Shields didn't return after he took a hard hit from Brandon Gibson in the end zone following a third-quarter interception. Packers TE Ryan Taylor suffered an elbow injury.

» The Rams might have dodged the injury bullet with QB Sam Bradford, who the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported is OK after X-rays were negative on his ankle. Rams LT Rodger Saffold (left ankle) and RB Cadillac Williams (knee) also exited during the second half against the Packers. The St. Louis-Post Dispatch reported Williams suffered a thigh injury.

» Colts backup LB A.J. Edds was evaluated for a concussion after leaving against the Bengals, according to The Associated Press.

» Cowboys RB Felix Jones didn't return after suffering a left ankle injury during the second quarter against the Patriots. The team's official website reports Jones sustained a high ankle sprain. Cowboys rookie LG Bill Nagy broke his right ankle, which owner Jerry Jones said would likely sideline him for the rest of the season.

» Buccaneers C Jeff Faine didn't return after sustaining a biceps injury .

» Browns RB Peyton Hillis will undergo an MRI exam Monday after missing the majority of the game against the Raiders with a hamstring injury. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said LB Scott Fujita sustained a concussion.

» Raiders C Samson Satele suffered a sprained knee, according to The AP, but said he would play next week.
