Three biggest takeaways
- Into the fire. The Ravens' season begins with quite a bang in Week 1: a Sunday Night Football tilt vs. the team that eliminated them from the playoffs this past January. After that bout in Buffalo, Baltimore runs through a five-game swing that includes matchups against four 2024 playoff teams: the Lions, Chiefs, Texans and Rams. That's five games versus postseason qualifiers in the first six weeks. If there's a team built for such a challenging start, it's the Ravens, but they better buckle up.
- Three's company. The Ravens may end up defining homestands and road trips in 2025. They play three consecutive home games in Weeks 5-8 (with a Week 7 bye mixed in), then hit the road for three straight contests in Weeks 9-11, then return to Baltimore for another trio of tilts at M&T Bank Stadium in Weeks 12-14 -- including a prime-time date with the rival Bengals on Thanksgiving. It's not often you see schedules emerge with chunks of home and road dates like that, but fortunately for the Ravens, their travel won't be too overbearing: The furthest west they'll fly is to Kansas City.
- Prime-time quartets. Baltimore is one of three AFC North teams with four prime-time games on the schedule in 2025, but unlike Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, the football-viewing audience will receive a healthy helping of Ravens action early. Two of their first three games are set for prime time, and they'll have played in front of a national audience three times before the end of October.
NFL Research note
Baltimore is one of just three teams (along with New England and Tennessee) scheduled for three straight road games.

Three biggest takeaways
- Road cats. The Bengals begin their 2025 season with three games away from home in their first four weeks, increasing the difficulty for a club that has started slowly in recent years. Two of those contests are against 2024 playoff teams (Minnesota and Denver), including a Monday night showdown in the Mile High City. If coach Zac Taylor is going to rewrite the narrative regarding his team's performance in September, he'll need to do so in enemy territory.
- Spotlight season. Cincinnati's high-powered offense made for some captivating football in 2024, and despite the Bengals not reaching the postseason, schedule-makers have placed high expectations on them in 2025. Look no further than their four prime-time games, plus three late-window contests (and toss in the prime-time preseason game for good measure, too). Prepare to see plenty of Joe Burrow and Co. this fall.
- Earning it around the holidays. Cincinnati's season slate doesn't include many perceived breaks, and it's clear the stretch run from Thanksgiving through Christmas is built for the Bengals to prove themselves. Dates at Baltimore, Buffalo and Miami (plus a quick rematch with the Ravens) will ask the most from Cincinnati, and the Bengals might need to finish with two home wins over Arizona and Cleveland to secure their spot in the postseason. Fortunately, the schedule doesn't include one of those brutal three-game swings some contenders were forced to endure around Christmas last season, but this portion of the slate won't be easy on the Bengals.
NFL Research note
Joe Burrow is 1-9 as a starter in Weeks 1 and 2.

Three biggest takeaways
- No breaks. Cleveland's 2025 season -- a pivotal campaign for the future of the Andrew Berry/Kevin Stefanski regime -- begins with a collection of heavyweights and three road dates over the first five weeks. Contests against Cincinnati, Baltimore, Green Bay, Detroit and Minnesota pit the Browns against four 2024 playoff teams right off the bat. If the Browns are going to prove 2025 isn't a repeat of the nightmare that was 2024, they'll have to score a few upsets immediately, a task that will be even more challenging if one of their two rookie quarterbacks ends up manning the starting role.
- Balance. Cleveland doesn't embark on a single true road swing in 2025. Their schedule instead ping-pongs between home and road dates for most of the slate, and the only consecutive true roadies are split by a bye in Week 9. Schedule-makers seem to have handed them a favor with this in exchange for what is essentially a gauntlet of an 18-week journey, save for a four-game stretch against four opponents that did not make the playoffs last season (Las Vegas, San Francisco, Tennessee, Chicago). That quartet of games is deceiving, though: The 49ers, Raiders, Bears and even the Titans have reason to believe they'll enjoy better outcomes in the new season than they did in 2024.
- Late-season litmus tests. As things currently stand, there aren't many clues pointing toward who will handle starting-quarterback duties for these Browns. Their wide-open competition will evolve over the summer, but by the time they meet the Titans in early December (Week 14), they'll have a chance to measure up against the team that landed one spot ahead of them in the 2025 draft. Will Cam Ward be on a track toward long-term success by this point? And can the Browns boast the same about whoever it is they're playing at quarterback by the time December arrives, or will the outlook be much darker? The same is true of a meeting with Chicago one week later, at which point new coach Ben Johnson's imprint on the Bears may be visible -- and an example of where the Browns might want to go if things aren't working out for them.

Cleveland is one of just three teams (along with New Orleans and Tennessee) without a prime-time game on the schedule.

Three biggest takeaways
- Hello, old friend. The Steelers begin 2025 on the road against their old quarterback, Justin Fields, and the Jets in a matchup that is surprising only because it isn't in a prime-time window. If Aaron Rodgers ends up signing with the Steelers, that adds another layer to this meeting that makes it rather juicy for a Week 1 contest. The Steelers will visit Najee Harris' Chargers in Week 10, a game that is rightfully set for the Sunday Night Football window.
- November separation? Last season, Pittsburgh was one of a few teams who played three games in 11 days because of where Christmas landed on the calendar. That stretch was part of a miserable period in the 2024 campaign in which the Steelers seemed to lose their mojo, limping into the playoffs with four straight losses that began with the aforementioned three-game set. This time around, they won't be subjected to such a tight turnaround in December, but they will have to hit their stride well before Christmas arrives and hope to stay healthy. A Week 5 bye sets up for a marathon of 13 straight weeks of action, including four prime-time games, late-window contests against the Bills and Lions and a season finale at home versus Baltimore. If the Steelers are going to be in playoff contention, they'll need to reach that final month with a strong record or else risk it all falling apart in December.
- Luck of the ... Steelers? Pittsburgh is back on the international slate for the first time in 12 years and just the second time in franchise history. The Steelers will be making some history, too, as a participant in the first-ever NFL regular-season game in Ireland when they cross the Atlantic Ocean to take on the Vikings. It's the first of two overseas games for Minnesota, which coincidentally defeated Pittsburgh 34-27 in London in 2013. The game also highlights a personal connection between the Steelers and Ireland: The Rooney family originally emigrated from Ireland to the United States in the 19th century, and late chairman Dan Rooney served as U.S. Ambassador to Ireland from 2009 to 2012.
NFL Research note
Four of the Steelers' final six games will come against teams that made the playoffs last season.
