There were plenty of stars that shined for the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.
There are plenty of stars who are being counted upon in 2024 for Dallas to overcome its recent postseason travails and its current offseason questions.
Perhaps lost in the galaxy of those aforementioned Cowboys stars, tight end Jake Ferguson is raising his hand to do more despite having produced a Pro Bowl campaign last season.
"To me, I think I'm not even scratching my surface," Ferguson said this week, via ESPN’s Todd Archer. "There's so many things that I want to get better at and I know I can get better at. We watch film every day of different games, even the practices we're doing now and I'm like, 'OK, I can get a lot better still.'"
Ferguson, who became the first Cowboys tight end to make a Pro Bowl since Jason Witten in 2017, filled the void left by Dallas Schultz in resounding fashion. In 2023, Ferguson put up 71 receptions for 761 yard and five touchdowns -- massive improvements from his rookie line of 19/174/2.
As the Cowboys' have garnered headlines with a sleepy offseason in which the talent added has been few and far between, they will rely on the in-house talent to pick up its game. Ferguson is clearly looking at himself to do just that.
"In this league you can't be complacent," Ferguson said. "You've got to just keep going. You've got to keep getting better and that's what I aim to do."
