Cowboys won't have injured WR Williams, RB Jones vs. Chiefs

Wide receiver Roy Williams and running back Felix Jones didn't travel with the Dallas Cowboys this weekend, the team's Web site reported, meaning they won't play in Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Williams (ribs) and Jones (knee) didn't practice all week because of their injuries. The Cowboys also will be without Gerald Sensabaugh, who had thumb surgery, meaning Pat Watkins will start at strong safety.

Miles Austin is expected to replace Williams in the starting lineup, according to NFL.com's Steve Wyche. Sam Hurd played last Sunday in Denver after Williams left with his injury during the game and was the intended receiver on Tony Romo's final two incomplete end-zone passes in the 17-10 loss to the Broncos.

Williams, expected to replace Terrell Owens as the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver, has struggled to connect with Romo this season. Williams has 11 receptions for 214 yards and one touchdown in four games, and Romo has thrown just 25 passes the receiver's way. That's tied for 44th in the NFL, which is low considering Romo has thrown the 10th-most passes in the league.

Earlier in the week, Williams expressed a little frustration on how the season has started.

"No, this is not what I envisioned by no means," Williams said. "It's still early. It's like the stock (market). It's a bad first quarter. Maybe the second quarter will be good."

But it hasn't started so well with Williams injured and no word on when he will return.

Marion Barber and Tashard Choice should share the running back duties with Jones sidelined. The Cowboys signed Chauncey Washington off the practice squad for the second consecutive week to provide running back depth and released center Duke Preston to make roster room.

Starting center Andre Gurode also is questionable for the Cowboys because of a sprained knee, and Cory Procter would start if needed.
