Kevin Kolb will not end his disappointing first season with the Arizona Cardinals on a positive note, as league sources told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that the quarterback will sit out this weekend's season finale.
Sidelined since a Week 14 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Kolb still is suffering from some post-concussions symptoms, and the team is taking every precaution with him, sources told La Canfora.
Backup quarterback John Skelton is in line to end the season under center Sunday when the Cardinalsface the Seattle Seahawks.
Kolb took a number of cognitive tests Tuesday, which revealed he remained "a little slow with some reaction stuff and some processing stuff from my baseline that I'd had earlier in the year," he said, via The Arizona Republic.
Kolb categorized his symptoms as "nothing serious ... but it's something I can't play with."
Kolb practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday.
Despite Kolb's inability to remain on the field this season (he has played in just nine games) and his struggles while suited up (nine touchdowns to eight interceptions), The Republic reported Wednesday that the Cardinals remain invested in him for next season. Sources told the newspaper that the Cardinals will keep Kolb despite the $7 million roster bonus owed to him in March.
