The Cincinnati Bengals continue to take issue with Pittsburgh Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter's role in the unraveling end of Saturday's wild-card matchup.
Porter was on the field following a vicious hit on Antonio Brown by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, which led to an Adam Jones unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that set up the Steelers' chip-shot game-winning field goal
Respected Pro Bowl offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth sounded off Monday on Porter.Â
"I hugged Mike Tomlin after the game, we apologized for the way it was played," Whitworth said, via ESPN.com. "I have a lot of respect for the Steelers -- but Joey Porter isn't one of them. Before the last game, Porter was at midfield mother------ everybody."
That sentiment was pervasive in the Bengals' locker room. Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther called "Porter an embarrassment to the coaching profession." Jones went on a postgame tirade on Instagram, blasting Porter and the officials. Jones doubled down on his criticism Monday, saying he believes Brown was "faking" the head injury.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Porter could incur a fine for his actions.
