After agreeing to a major pay cut, the veteran wideout said Tuesday that his desire to stay with New York was "bigger than just football," emphasizing that no other organization would treat him as well as the G-Men.
"I'm just excited to be here with this team again, and I'm excited to be around this organization," Cruz said, via Bleacher Report.
"Excited to play for coach Ben McAdoo, who is a tremendous, tremendous coach. I'm excited to play alongside (quarterback) Eli (Manning), (wideout) Odell (Beckham) ... I'm just grateful to have this opportunity again, and I'm working very, very hard to make sure I'm out there on the field for the long haul, and not just for the time being."
Largely a forgotten man in Gotham, Cruz has missed 26 straight games with knee and calf issues. Set to turn 30, it's fair to wonder if we'll ever see him paired with the uber-talented Beckham for a full season.
