Transactions roundup: Ego Ferguson fails physical

It turns out Ego Ferguson isn't headed to Green Bay after all.

The defensive end's addition to the Packers via waiver claim has been nixed due to a failed physical, according to the league's transaction wire.

Ferguson was waived by the Bears after appearing in just 20 games in three seasons in Chicago. Injuries have marred what was an otherwise promising career for the former second-round pick out of LSU, who is now forced to face career mortality after this latest setback.

Green Bay, meanwhile, has to go back to the drawing board to devise a strategy to add depth along the defensive line.

Elsewhere in transaction news:

  1. Veteran Luke McCown will have to don a new uniform in his next Verizon commercial. The backup quarterback was cut by the Saints on Wednesday.
  1. The Rams have signed center John Sullivan. The veteran appeared in 13 games for Washington in 2016, and played in Minnesota from 2008-2014.
