Last year's collection of free-agent quarterbacks was an absolute disaster.
Passer-needy teams have much more to look forward to this offseason depending on how the chips fall.
With a handful of signal-callers poised to switch teams -- through free agency, release or trade -- it's time to guess who's staying and who's going:
Ryan Fitzpatrick
The Amish Rifle's return to Florham Park is an offseason home run. With the Geno Smith experiment all but over, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan is on record saying Gang Green has prioritized re-signing Fitzpatrick, who played inspired football under play-caller Chan Gailey. "Everybody in the organization feels very strongly about this," Maccagnan said last month, after coach Todd Bowles confirmed: "We want him back."Â
Stay or Go? I'm betting Chris Wesseling's next paycheck that Fitzy stays.
Colin Kaepernick
We're all aware of the February report suggesting Kaepernick "wants out of San Francisco" with the Jets as his "preferred destination." Intriguing scenario, but Kaepernick still has five years left on the $114 million extension he inked in 2014. Let's not forget NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport also reported that Kelly was planning to sign or trade for Kaepenerick as his next quarterback no matter where he landed.
With the No. 7 overall pick, San Francisco is a logical candidate to draft a young quarterback for Kelly to groom, but the timing is tricky: $11.9 million of Kaepernick's contract becomes guaranteed on April 1. If Kelly still feels strongly about Kap -- and if the quarterback is healthy and willing to see the Niners through new eyes -- look for these two to give it a shot.

Kirk Cousins
Stay or Go? Stay.
Robert Griffin III
The 'Skins are only keeping him around until they know Cousins will be on the roster for 2016. Say what you will about Griffin, but he handled his demotion with class and we expect Washington to release him ahead of March 9, when RGIII's $16.155 million option becomes fully guaranteed.
Stay or Go? Going -- all the way to Dallas, where he'll play backup to Tony Romo unless a team like Houston tries to make him their starter.
Sam Bradford
The Eagles don't sound keen on franchising Bradford, leaving this situation utterly murky. It's too early to decipher Bradford's future with the club until some of these other situations shake out. Philly doesn't want to pay $20 million-plus for an oft-injured quarterback with spotty game tape. Still, reuniting with Nick Foles is laughable. Chiefs backup Chase Daniel could be a fit after he worked closely with new coach Doug Pederson in Kansas City, but keeping Bradford makes more sense.
Stay or Go? It's close, but he'll return.
Brock Osweiler
The Broncos plan to give Peyton Manning time to decide on his future, leaving contract talks with Osweiler on hold. After getting a taste as Denver's starter, Osweiler wants to be back with the Denver teammates he called a "special group." Despite whispers that a team like the Browns could try to steal him away, the Broncos won't let Osweiler go if Manning calls it quits.
