Each week, the Around The League writer with the worst record in picks has to write our introduction. This week, that man is Marc Sessler.
What I've learned this week is that going against the grain is for fools.
In engineering last week's picks, I dialed in four -- frankly, gutsy -- hero picks, and paid a dear price for being a voice in the wilderness.
In case you're new around here, a hero pick is when one of us selects a team to win when everyone else chooses the opponent. I wound up as the only soul who picked the Browns, Ravens, Raiders and Bucs. All four lost, leaving me to write this introduction for the first time all season. Totally disgraceful.
My takeaway is that, in life, it's better to follow the crowd. Be a sheep. Close your mouth and don't buck the system. While you're at it, embrace big corporations and believe all that the government tells you. Walk the straight and narrow, and don't ask questions, because The Man rules all.
Listen to me, children: Don't try to be a hero. I tried. It doesn't work.
