Nick Bosa believes he'll be ready for start of season

Nick Bosa was frustrated after suffering a hamstring injury that has stymied his offseason, but the San Francisco 49ers' pass-rusher expects to be healthy by training camp at the end of July, and ready for Week 1.

"I think I'm going to be just fine," Nick Bosa said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. "I'm going to get this hammy perfectly right and I think there will be plenty of time to play football and get the reps that I need."

Bosa injured his hamstring three weeks ago, missing OTAs and minicamp practices. The rookie's injury came after he missed most of his final season at Ohio State due to a core muscle injury. The hamstring injury brought out questions about his durability entering the NFL.

"I was worried when it happened," Bosa said. "I was pretty down on myself that I couldn't stay on the field but once I got with the guys and just had some of the older guys talk me up a little bit, it's been super helpful."

Injuries, especially soft-tissue ones, can happen to rookies who have been training for the combine and draft, not football.

As Bosa prepares for training camp one thing to keep an eye on is his contract situation. The 49ers edge rusher is the top draft pick yet to sign his deal. The No. 2 overall selection appears potentially to be holding up contracts for those immediately behind him, as selections three through six have also not signed deals yet.

As NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport noted on *Inside Minicamp Live* Wednesday, it's worth keeping an eye on Bosa's contract situation given the type of language the Niners generally use in their deals and the history of Bosa's brother, Joey, who held out back in 2016.

At this point, neither the injury nor the contract is at an alarm-bell stage, but both are things to monitor as we hit the NFL's summer break.
