Flag football to make debut during first week of competition at 2028 Summer Olympics

The wait won't be long for flag football to make its Olympic debut during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

LA28 announced on Monday that flag football will take place from July 15-22 at Exposition Park Stadium during the first week of competition. The opening ceremony is officially scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on July 14, 2028.

All flag football competitions during the 2028 Games are scheduled for afternoon and evening time slots. Men's medal games will take place at 9 p.m. ET on July 21 while the women's finals are set to begin at 4 p.m. ET on July 22.

NFL owners unanimously passed a resolution on May 20 that allows league players to try out to participate in flag football during the 2028 Games.

Flag football's early competition schedule during the '28 Games could reduce potential conflicts with NFL training camp schedules.
