Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones lost his temper against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. It will cost him.
Jones told reporters on Wednesday that he was fined $35,000 for his skirmish with rookie wide receiver Amari Cooper in the second quarter of a 33-13 win over the Raiders.
Jones said he will appeal the fine. He was far from contrite on the subject on Wednesday.
Following a 60-yard run by the Raiders that was called back by a holding penalty, Jones and Cooper got tangled up on the turf. Jones pushed Cooper's helmet off his head, then knocked the receiver's head against his own helmet. Jones was assessed with a personal foul on the play, which was offset by other penalties during the fracas.
"I mean, it's football," Cooper said after the game, according to ESPN.com. "It's a physical game so you kind of expect it."
Jones will have a hard time winning his appeal. He's fortunate he didn't get kicked out of the game.
