Total of 28 Texas-San Antonio players take part in pro day

Representatives from 14 NFL teams -- including Oakland Raiders director of college scouting Shaun Herock -- were present for Texas-San Antonio's pro day on Monday, when 28 Roadrunners players worked out.

Defensive tackle Ashaad Mabry (6-foot-2 1/2, 322 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 5.33 and 5.37 seconds. He had a 22 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-3 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 5.18 seconds and the three-cone drill in 8.35 seconds. He also performed 26 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Mabry had a good workout, and is described as having very good quickness for a guy of his size. He is a potential free-agent pickup for a team following the conclusion of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Defensive back Triston Wade (5-10 7/8, 185) ran the 40 in 4.52 and 4.55 seconds. He had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.22 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.29 seconds (though, his time wasn't as good as expected since this drill was run on a slippery surface). Wade also had seven strength lifts. Wade is a potential rookie free-agent pickup for a team following the draft.

Texas-San Antonio's pro day, along with Texas State's pro day, helped kick off on Monday what many refer to as "The Texas Cattle Drive." This is a busy week for pro day activity in the state of Texas. Texas' pro day is Tuesday, and SMU's is being held Wednesday. On Thursday, Houston and North Texas will host pro days. On Friday, TCU will hold its pro day.
