Randy Gregory's most recent comeback bid will begin in earnest this week.
Under suspension since February for violation of the league's substance-abuse police, Gregory will apply for reinstatement this week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.
The Dallas Cowboys' pass rusher's current suspension is an indefinite one, but his hopes of reinstatement were initially reported by NFL Network's Jane Slater on July 5.
On Feb. 26, Gregory was suspended for the fourth time in his NFL career, which commenced when he was drafted in 2015.
Just 26, Gregory's age almost matches the amount of NFL games he's played in as he's participated in but 28 contests with only one start over the course of four seasons. He missed all of 2017 thanks to his third suspension.
Gregory flashed the promise in 2018 that has no doubt been the prevailing reason the Cowboys have kept him around -- including extending his contract through 2020 in April -- as he posted six sacks and 25 tackles in 14 games. Those statistics make up the majority of his career numbers, which sit at 45 tackles and seven sacks.
