The New York Giants and Chicago Bears hold the No. 10 and 11 overall picks, respectively, for the 2016 NFL Draft, and it appears their pre-draft visit schedules are in the same ballpark, as well.
Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell will visit the Giants on Monday, and will follow that with a trip to Chicago to meet with Bears officials, according to NFL Media analyst Rand Getlin. Treadwell and Baylor's Corey Coleman are considered the most likely possibilities as the first wide receiver drafted, though NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently said Notre Dame's Will Fuller belongs in that conversation, as well.
If Treadwell is the first receiver to go, he could be meeting with his future bosses on Monday. NFL Media analysts Chad Reuter and Maurice Jones-Drew both currently project the Giants to take Treadwell at No. 10, while analyst Ike Taylor sees the San Francisco 49ers taking Treadwell at No. 7. The Giants could use another receiving complement to Odell Beckham, while the Bears' need for another receiver is even greater. Alshon Jeffery led the team with 807 receiving yards last year, and quarterback Jay Cutler's No. 2 target was tight end Martellus Bennett. Kevin White, the Bears' first-round selection in the 2015 draft, missed the entire season with a leg injury.
The draft will be held April 28-30 (on NFL Network) in Chicago. Treadwell is among 25 top prospects who will attend the event in person.
Treadwell ran 4.63 and 4.65 40-yard dashes at Ole Miss' pro day, not exactly the kind of speed that top-10 picks at the position are known for. Treadwell's game at Ole Miss, where he became the school's all-time receptions leader (202), was never about speed, however. With a physical style and a unique ability to make contested catches, Treadwell would provide quarterback Eli Manning with more of a third-down threat than a vertical one.
