Top NFL fits & fashion Week 2: Tyrod Taylor stuns; Kyler Murray rocks vintage Vick look

In our debut installment of The Fit Files: NFL's Five Best-Dressed last week, we ended up with a tie that illustrated how fashion can make everybody look good. This week, quarterbacks and wide receivers stole the show, claiming all five spots below, with the top slot going to a veteran QB who has made a strong argument for having the NFL's best closet.

Before we dig into the list, here's a quick refresher on the members of our panel:

Terron Armstead -- Former five-time Pro Bowl left tackle for the Saints and Dolphins (2013-2024); currently hosts The Set podcast on YouTube bi-weekly on Monday/Thursday night.

  • Fashion vision: Fashion is our daily "first impression." It's our non-verbal expression, so I use it as the first line of communication.

Jamie Erdahl -- Host of Good Morning Football on NFL Network and the nationally syndicated show GMFB OT.

  • Fashion vision: Designer sweatshirts take the cake.

Jason McCourty -- Super Bowl champion and former cornerback for the Titans, Browns, Patriots and Dolphins (2009-2021); current ESPN studio analyst/CBS game analyst.

  • Fashion vision: Fashion is confidence, and confidence is a stain you can’t wipe off!

Chad Johnson -- Custom clothier and designer for Duane & Johnson menswear tailoring.

  • Fashion vision: Where style outlives the season -- fashion, to me, is making today timeless.

And finally, I am a national TV reporter for NFL Network, and my fashion vision is: Dress how you want to be addressed and wear what helps you exude, "I'm HIM."

A NOTE ON METHODOLOGY: Panelists voted on a list of fits shown off before games from Thursday through Monday, with five points being assigned to each first-place vote, four-points being assigned to each second-place vote, and so on. For players who have previously earned votes, we will list their season point total and mark any prior top-five finishes.

Here, presented in reverse order, are the winners from Week 2:

5) Ray-Ray McCloud III, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Points: 6 | Season point total: 9

McCloud's willingness to be bold and creative lands him on this list. And as Chad Johnson noted, "The pants are CRAZY!!!!!"

4) Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Points: 7

For a second straight week, two Eagles players make the cut, making Philly the early leader in the race for the title of most stylish team in the NFL. Hurts' brown double-breasted suit is simply smooth and classy -- a perfect match for his personality and tone in postgame press conferences.

3) DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Points: 10 | Season point total: 23 | Previous top-five finishes: No. 1 (Week 1)

Week 1's co-winner is the only player to make a repeat appearance in Week 2's top-five list, showing his staying power as one of the pound-for-pound kings of NFL style.

Last week, Smith leaned on his self-described strength in suits, and this week, he's back with a unique orange suit, and a pair of matching suit shorts. The concept of suit shorts is controversial in the style world, but one thing is sure: Smith wears them better than anybody in this league.

Smith landed at No. 1 on the rankings of both Armstead and McCourty, a sign that his style game might match his toughness on the field.

2) Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Courtesy of the Arizona Cardinals.

Points: 12 | Season point total: 16

There's nothing quite like a niche throwback jersey. Pulling out the Michael Vick Virginia Tech jersey and matching with same-era brown shorts out of the late 1990s or early 2000s hits right.

Erdahl had one word to describe this fit: "SICK."

Murray certainly has some Vick in his game, and there was poetic justice in Murray rocking this fit before pulling off the best QB run of this season so far.

1) Tyrod Taylor, QB, New York Jets

Courtesy of the New York Jets.

Points: 15 | Season point total: 18

Taylor's consistency and experience show up in the style game as prominently as they do on the field. He just makes it look easy. Rocking a smooth gray Dior jacket, black COMME des GARÇONS trousers and Prada shoes, Taylor demanded our panel's attention immediately.

Johnson: "There's nothing that needs to be said. Simple, clean and smooth."

Yet, nothing about this fit looks regular, with subtle details -- a Bottega Veneta bag and Gentle Monster sunglasses -- completing the aesthetic.

With Taylor set to step in for Justin Fields (who was ruled out with a concussion) on Sunday, NFL fans will see his name bubble up in a football context for the first time in awhile, given that his last start came in the 2023 season -- but those with an interest in style know Taylor has deserved his flowers for years. He simply puts it on.
