Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan on trade rumors surrounding RB De’Von Achane: ‘There is zero effort on my end to move’ him

If NFL teams are calling the Dolphins about running back De’Von Achane, it may keep on ringing or hit voicemail.

Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan was quick to shut down any trade rumors regarding Achane at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix on Monday.

“There is zero effort on my end to move Achane,” Sullivan said, per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques.

Sullivan also added that signing Achane to a contract extension is a “priority” for the club in the coming weeks or months.

Achane being a priority for Sullivan is no surprise. He was one of the bright spots in Miami and has developed into one of the most dual-threat RBs with his quickness to earn his first Pro Bowl honor. Despite Miami going 7-10, Achane kept the Dolphins’ offense afloat with Tua Tagovailoa being benched late in the season. He recorded his first 1,000-yard rushing season on 238 carries while leading the league in rushing yards per attempt (5.7).

A third-round pick in 2023 out of Texas A&M, Achane was great No. 2 RB behind veteran Raheem Mostert in his rookie season. He contributed 103 rushes for 800 yards, eight touchdowns behind Mostert who led the NFL with 18 rushing TDs. Achane also chipped in with 27 receptions for 197 yards and three scores.

The following season, Achane took the starting role and flourished into one of the league’s fastest RBs under Mike McDaniel. He nearly doubled his rush attempts (203) for 907 yards and six TDs.

Achane’s arrival in Miami has been an impactful one. Whether Sullivan can keep Achane in a Dolphins uniform will remain to be seen in the coming weeks with the 2026 NFL Draft starting on April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.

Nonetheless, new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley is aware of Achane’s importance to Miami’s offense. When the Dolphins played the Packers during the 2024 season, Hafley was Packers defensive coordinator. The Packers went on to win, 30-17, on Thursday Night Football. Despite being contained in the running game (seven carries for 14 yards), Achane caught eight passes for 56 yards and a score against Hafley's defense.

Hafley believes Achane paired with quarterback Malik Willis could be a dynamic duo for the foreseeable future.

“It will be hard to defend. Obviously, Achane is a great player. I learned that two years ago when he came into Lambeau Field\] when we had to play against him,” Hafley [told Kay Adams. “We’ll have receivers for Malik [Willis] to throw to. The next time you talk after the draft and as we get the players here April 7. I think you’ll see we will get some good ones.”
