Alabama's Da'Shawn Hand arrested on suspicion of DUI

Alabama defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, according to Tuscaloosa (Alabama) County Sheriff records.

Hand's bond was set at $1,000. No other details of his arrest were made public by the sheriff's department.

"This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da'Shawn's actions," Alabama coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future."

Alabama starts preseason practice on Thursday.

Hand, who recorded two sacks and 21 tackles last season, has been pegged as a potential starter for the Crimson Tide. NFL.com draft analysis Chad Reuter ranked him No. 58 in his list of the top 150 college football players for 2017 and NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein listed Hand No. 7 among his top defensive linemen.
