Titans start rookie in place of Haynesworth vs. Steelers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans started rookie Jason Jones in place of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Titans knew they would be without Haynesworth for the final two games of the regular season because of a sprained left medial collateral ligament. Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch also is sitting out after a surgical procedure on his groin.

Tennessee replaced Haynesworth in the lineup with Jones, their second-round pick out of Eastern Michigan, for his second start this season. Dave Ball made his third start of 2008 in place of Vanden Bosch.

Defensive tackle Amon Gordon, signed from the practice squad on Friday, was active. The Titans named Chris Simms as their third quarterback and also deactivated receivers Paul Williams and Chris Davis, cornerback Tyrone Poole, running back Chris Henry and offensive tackle Mike Otto.

The Steelers deactivated tackles Marvel Smith and Tony Hills, along with safety Anthony Smith, cornerback Fernando Bryant, linebacker Bruce Davis, defensive linemen Scott Paxson and Orpheus Roye.
