Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme was checked out at a local hospital Sunday after injuring his chest during a 34-21 road victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Delhomme went down on a hard hit from the Cardinals' Chike Okeafor and Darnell Dockett with 5:59 left in the third quarter. Delhomme came back to play the next series but was replaced by Matt Moore in the fourth quarter.

Delhomme said after returning from the hospital that the injury was a chest contusion and that no serious problem was detected. He said he began to feel "a little chilly" and "kind of a little weak" on the bench, leading to the trip to the hospital.
The injury capped a tough week for Delhomme. After he threw three interceptions in last Sunday's home loss to the Buffalo Bills, Delhomme had to wait until Wednesday to find out if he still was the Panthers' starter.
"To say it was the lowest point I ever had as a Panther, probably," Delhomme said after completing 7 of 14 passes for 90 yards with one touchdown against the Cardinals. "So after a ton of self-searching and soul searching, I was looking forward to going back out there and play, just play."
Delhomme's statistics weren't impressive, but he didn't make any big mistakes. He didn't throw an interception for the first time this season after entering the game with an NFL-high 13.
"We have been turning it over, and I have been the big culprit, and we didn't do that today," Delhomme said. "That was the big thing, and the defense got a ton of turnovers."
