Chiefs RB Smith likely done for season due to knee injury

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs running back Kolby Smith likely suffered a season-ending knee injury in a 30-27 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said coach Herm Edwards.

Smith was carted off the field with a sprained knee during the second quarter. He started in place of Larry Johnson, who was benched for disciplinary problems.

Kansas City was leading 21-3 when Smith was injured. He hurtled into the line on a first-down run and gained 5 yards before he was tackled by safety Will Allen.

Earlier in the game, Smith scored on a 1-yard run.
