Bills fan gets team flag blessed by the Pope in Rome

The Buffalo Bills are headed toward yet another dark January. Perhaps divine intervention can help end the team's grim dry spell.

Buffalo-area native Nicholas Iacono packed a Bills flag amongst his belongings when he headed to Rome to study abroad this year. On Nov. 23, Pope Francis spoke at St. Peter's Square; those in the papal attendance were provided the opportunity to bring a valuable item to be blessed.

"My first instinct was to bring my flag because the first thing I thought of was home," Iacono wrote in an email to The Buffalo News.

The pope blessed the flag along with the other items on hand. The Bills have lost two of three since the blessing, but maybe God's miracles take some time to kick in.

And that was your first blog post about Bills fans in three years not to include a single table crash. Speaking of which, it would be tremendous if a Bills fan could get a prop table blessed. If you can get Cool Pope to crash through it himself, even better.
