LSU's Leonard Fournette unlikely to play vs. Florida

LSU running back Leonard Fournette will likely sit out the Tigers' road game at Florida on Saturday as an ankle injury continues to sideline the junior. It would mark the third game Fournette has missed in the season's first six weeks.

Tigers coach Ed Orgeron cast doubt on the possibility of Fournette playing against the Gators on the SEC media teleconference Wednesday.

"I don't believe that Leonard's going to play. We don't know yet. He hasn't practiced yet," Orgeron said.

Fournette was considered a preseason candidate for the Heisman Trophy, but his injury, along with the Tigers' two-loss September, has quelled that narrative. Fournette has posted at least 100 rushing yards in each of the three games he's played in this season, against Wisconsin (138), Mississippi State (147) and Auburn (101). If he misses the Florida game, it will be his second consecutive weekend on the sideline after missing a win over Missouri last week.

At 6-foot-1, 235 pounds, Fournette is considered one of the elite talents in the college game. NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah has likened Fournette to a mix of Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley and Frank Gore of the Indianapolis Colts.
