Alabama offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was found not guilty of DUI on Tuesday, though a charge of leaving the scene of an accident remains pending.
Taylor, a starter for the Crimson Tide at right guard last season, was arrested July 17 after he phoned police to report that he had struck a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex. A municipal judge ruled Tuesday that Taylor was not guilty, per The Tuscaloosa News, and tested at a 0.0 blood-alcohol reading despite performing poorly on field sobriety tests.
"Of course I am pleased with this verdict," said Taylor's attorney, Jason Neff. "I hope Mr. Taylor will have an opportunity to move forward with his football career."
Taylor (6-foot-5, 345 pounds) was suspended from the team following the arrest, but was permitted to practice throughout the preseason. Alabama released its official depth chart Monday, which listed Ross Pierschbacher ahead of Taylor at the right guard spot.
The Crimson Tide opens the season against USC on Saturday.
