Ohio State Buckeyes use Tim Tebow to help in recruiting

Ohio State created a bit of a stir in certain corners of the college football world on Tuesday when it used one of the country's most popular sports figures -- one who once helped crush Ohio State's national-title dreams -- in this tweet to promote its program:

Tebow's connection to the Buckeyes, of course, comes from his relationship with OSU coach Urban Meyer, who coached Tebow at Florida, where they won a pair of national championships. UF beat OSU in one of those title games (at the end of the 2006 season).

So, naturally, it was a bit jarring for fans to see Tebow in a tweet promoting the Buckeyes. For Florida fans, it can't sit well to see their beloved ex-Gator being used to help the Buckeyes recruit. OSU backers might not love the idea of using a former foe in such a manner.

We don't blame OSU for trying, though. The Buckeyes are looking to reach recruits here, and the world's most popular free-agent QB has the power to be a useful tool in that effort.
