Justin Houston will play Saturday for Chiefs vs. Texans

Bad news for Brian Hoyer.

NFL Media's James Palmer confirmed Saturday that Kansas City pass-rusher Justin Houston is ready to go for this afternoon's wild-card showdown with the Houston Texans.

It comes as little surprise after Houston was listed as probable, but Palmer was told that questions still linger around the health of the outside linebacker's hyperextended knee, which has kept him out of the lineup since he suffered the injury in a Week 12 win over Buffalo.

Kansas City's concerns hover around the defender's conditioning and reaction time, Palmer was told. Still, any help from Houston will serve as a tremendous boost for this rugged Chiefs defense.

With Hoyer under center, the Texans must deal with an active front seven that also sports linebackers Tamba Hali and the surging Dee Ford. Prepare yourselves for a defensive gem.
