Vikings select cornerback Trae Waynes No. 11 overall

The Minnesota Vikings have addressed the secondary with their first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Vikings selected Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes with the 11th overall pick on Thursday night, giving Mike Zimmer another potential long-term starter to play across from 2013 first-round pick Xavier Rhodes.

Waynes is a complete corner. NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah praised his press coverage skills and calls him a physical defender in run support. He's landed in the right spot to develop his game, too. NFL Media's Mike Mayock calls Zimmer one of the best corner coaches he's ever seen.

It's a smart move for the Vikings, who play in a division loaded with playmaking wide receivers like Calvin Johnson, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White, who went sixth overall to the Bears on Thursday. If Waynes becomes the player they believe he can be, they could be set at corner for years.
