While the future is uncertain for Tony Sparano, he's making the best of a bad situation.
But is there any conceivable chance he could win the job, especially after losing to the Rams by more than 50 points?
"I kind of knew that question was going to be coming down the road here," Sparano said Monday, via Inside Bay Area. "It's a question for somebody else. It's not a question for me."
Sparano is 30-35 career as a head coach and came to Oakland after an epic Tim Tebow-led implosion in New York. On many fronts, it would be simple to dismiss Sparano has a head coach again, especially for a Raiders team that needs a massive rebuild and a mentor for their franchise quarterback, Derek Carr.
But there is something to be said for beating Kansas City and San Francisco with a team very well capable of tanking, which is why this might not be the last we hear about Sparano roaming the sidelines.
"I know where our players are," Sparano said. "I know what they think. I know how they respond. I can tell by their response. I feel really good about where we are right now. I love this group of guys, I like coaching them and I love this team. That's all I'll say."
