Miami Dolphins reportedly will host Knowshon Moreno

We haven't heard a whisper about Knowshon Moreno on the open market -- until now.

Knowshon Moreno through the years

Take a look at the career of Knowshon Moreno through the years.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reported Thursday that the former Denver Broncos running back is expected to visit with the Miami Dolphins on Friday.

It's a meeting that makes plenty of sense for a 'Fins squad that can't afford to stand pat with Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas in the backfield. Miller offers speed and explosion, but his power has been questioned. Thomas is a plodder who hasn't topped 3.7 yards per carry during any of his three seasons in South Beach.

We tabbed Moreno a logical fit for the Dolphins because he won't break the bank. His 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns were career highs, but the sixth-year runner benefited from a Peyton Manning-led offense that forced opponents to endlessly play the pass.

Just 26, Moreno doesn't appear to be a candidate to return to the Broncos, but he'd be an interesting fit with new Dolphins offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, who spent last season in the lab with Chip Kelly's Philadelphia Eagles. We'll find out soon enough if this one's a match.
