Greg Schianointerviewed for Cleveland's head coaching job Wednesday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source with knowledge of Schiano's schedule. However, he will not be hired, Rapoport added, per a source with knowledge of the Browns' thinking.

The former Buccaneers coach met with the Browns after Bill Belichickrecommended him to team owner Jimmy Haslam, Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the Browns' situation.

The Browns are looking for a new person to man the sideline for the second consecutive season. Pat Shurmur lasted just two seasons, and Rob Chudzinski was fired in December after one year.

The Browns are the only team left with a head coaching vacancy and appeared to be waiting for Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase. But Gase pulled himself out of the running this week, and the Browns will interview Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine for a third time Thursday.

It's taken the Browns this long to find a new coach. There's no sense in rushing the process now.
