Alabama offensive lineman Anthony Steen, one of the top guard prospects available for the 2014 NFL draft, is expected to miss the Crimson Tide's Sugar Bowl appearance against Oklahoma due to a shoulder injury.

Steen is out following shoulder surgery for a partially torn labrum, according to cbssports.com.

Steen, a senior, is a three-year starter at right guard for the Crimson Tide. He was named second-team All-SEC by a vote of the league's coaches, and has been a crucial element to Alabama's rushing effectiveness on the right side. It remains unclear whether the surgery will interfere with his opportunities to perform for scouts at the Reese's Senior Bowl on Jan. 25, or at the NFL Scouting Combine about a month later in Indianapolis.

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt has ranked Steen as the No. 65 senior prospect at any position.

Mississippi State senior quarterback Tyler Russell underwent postseason surgery for a labrum tear as well.
