Felix Jones was a popular man last week, taking three free-agent visits. This week, he's found a home.

The former Dallas Cowboys running back signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL.com's Albert Breer reported Tuesday morning. ESPN first reported the deal.

Jones joins a crowded Eagles backfield. LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown are locked into the majority of the snaps this season, meaning Jones will battle Chris Polk and undrafted free agent Miguel Maysonet for the third spot on the depth chart.

The sixth-year pro also might play a role in the return game.

Jones showed promise early in his career, but injuries slowed him the last several seasons on the Cowboys, and he never displayed an ability to carry the load. In spot duty for the Eagles, Jones can provide another shifty back who can catch the ball out of the backfield.

In Chip Kelly's offense, a player with Jones' versatility can be a nice chip to play, especially if the Eagles need to dig deep into the depth chart during the 2013 season.
