Report: Tyvon Branch's restructuring saves Oakland Raiders $5M

The Oakland Raiders have restructured the contract of strong safety Tyvon Branch, chopping over $5 million from their salary cap according to a report from the Bay Area News Group.

Branch's salary for 2013 drops from $6 million to $715,000.

The Raiders also extended the safety's contract two years through 2017 with base salaries of $6.5 million for each of the last two seasons.

Branch started 14 games for the Raiders in 2012, recording 94 tackles and one interception. He has been a full-time starter in Oakland for the last five years.
