Matt Cassel ruled out; Brady Quinn to start for Chiefs

It's Brady Quinn time in Kansas City.

Harrison: Week 6 predictions

Will the Texans and Falcons remain perfect? Can the 49ers exact revenge on the Giants? Elliot Harrison forecasts Week 6. **More ...**

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Thursday that Matt Cassel officially has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after sustaining a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens last week. Brady Quinn will start in Cassel's place.

Quinn completed all three of his pass attempts in limited action last week. Even if Cassel wasn't hurt against Baltimore, there is a chance that Chiefs  coach Romeo Crennel would have made a quarterback change this week. (And not just to please the fan base.)

For the Chiefs, these are desperate times. No 1-5 team has made the playoffs since 1990. For Quinn, this is the opportunity of a career. He hasn't started since 2009. He might not get another chance to lead a team again. If Quinn puts together a few good weeks, he could wind up being "The Guy" for the rest of the season.
