A day after his arrest on drunk driving charges, New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl is commenting on his situation.
I've worked hard during my career to set a positive example, and yesterday I fell far short of this standard.

I apologize to my family, my fans, my teammates, the New York Giants, and the NFL.

I made a poor decision that I sincerely regret, and, as always, take full responsibility for my actions.

Diehl, who is of Croatian descent, admitted to a police officer that he had been out drinking while watching a UEFA Euro 2012 soccer match in which Croatia beat Ireland. His prior three tweets before Monday's mea culpa came during the Croatia match.
Diehl, who was released Monday on his own recognizance, is likely to be late to training camp this year after a judge set his first court date on the same day the Giants open for business.
Diehl also released a statement through the team on Monday, saying: "I've worked hard during my career to set a positive example, and yesterday I fell far short of this standard. I apologize to my family, my fans, the New York Giants, and the NFL. I made a poor decision that I sincerely regret, and, as always, take full responsibility for my actions."
