After the game, a 35-21 loss at Lambeau, veteran linebacker Brian Urlacher summed up a lost season when he was asked if there was reason to hope.
"Yeah, the season will be over next week," he said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "That's good."
It probably described the feelings for everyone associated with the Bears in a year that crashed the moment Jay Cutler broke his thumb in Week 11 against the Chargers. The Bears haven't won since that game, going from 7-3 to 7-8.
Aaron Rodgers threw for five touchdowns and no interceptions, ending both the Bears' season and any debate who the NFL Most Valuable Player award should go to this season.
On the other side of the field, the Bears had Josh McCown, a third-stringer who punctuated a two-point conversion run by dunking the football over the Packers' goal post. Chicago was trailing 35-18 at the time.
"I was overcome with Christmas joy, I guess," McCown said.
At least somebody had the feeling of joy in the Bears' locker room.
