Browns running back Peyton Hillis has been ruled out against the Dolphins with strep throat, according to a league source.
Hillis came to practice Friday feeling ill and was sent home to drink fluids and rest. He's on antibiotics, but came to the stadium on Sunday morning still under the weather.
The Plain Dealer reported Hillis was seen exiting Cleveland Browns Stadium in his car hours before kickoff.
Montario Hardesty will start in Hillis' place.
Hillis rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2's victory over the Colts.
Browns right tackle Tony Pashos is sitting out his third game with a foot injury. Artis Hicks is making his second straight start and Oneil Cousins will likely rotate in on some plays.
Dolphins starting cornerback Vontae Davis is inactive and will be replaced by Nolan Carroll, who will make his second career start. This is the first game Davis has missed in his three NFL seasons.
