None of the NFL teams with 0-3 records put in a waiver claim on free-agent quarterback Trent Edwards, team and league sources said Tuesday.
Edwards will either be claimed on waivers at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday or clear waivers and be free to sign with any team.
The San Francisco 49ers had been linked to the former third-round draft pick, who played college ball nearby at Stanford, but they won't pick him up on waivers, a team source said.
According to league sources, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers, all 0-3, didn't place claims on Edwards either. The only other 0-3 team is the Buffalo Bills, who released Edwards on Monday.
At this point in the season, waivers are based off 2010 records, from worst to best in inverse order.
