Season over: Rams' Saffold placed on IR with torn pectoral

The injury list continues to grow longer for the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams placed offensive tackle Rodger Saffold on season-ending injured reserve Saturday with a torn pectoral muscle, the team announced. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Saffold suffered the injury lifting weights Friday.

Mark LeVoir is expected to start for Saffold at left tackle on Sunday when the Rams face the Seattle Seahawks.

The team announced that rookie offensive tackle Kevin Hughes was promoted from the practice squad to take Saffold's place on the active roster.

"Moving parts, even within the game, it happens," Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo told the newspaper. "Coaches step up, get the next guy in there ready to go and away we go."

The Rams offensive line was already in flux, as right tackle Jason Smith will miss his fourth straight game because of a concussion.
