Raiders re-sign Russell for RB depth, release KR Miller

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders brought back running back Gary Russell and released kick returner Justin Miller on Wednesday.

The Raiders re-signed Miller last week but released him after he averaged 17.7 yards on six returns in a 29-6 loss to the Houston Texans.

Russell provides insurance at running back with Darren McFaddenout two to four weeks with a knee injury and also can help out as a kickoff returner. Russell was released by the Raiders at the end of training camp.
