Patriots receiver Brown inactive for Super Bowl

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Patriots wide receiver Troy Brown will not be active during Super Bowl XLII. Brown had previously played in all three of New England's Super Bowl wins this decade.

The other inactives for the Patriots are defensive lineman Santonio Thomas, tight end Stephen Spach, lineman Wesley Britt and Billy Yates, cornerback Antwain Spann and receiver Chad Jackson. Matt Gutierrez will be the third quarterback.

Giants cornerback Sam Madison will not start, giving Corey Webster his fourth start of the postseason at right cornerback. Madison did play against the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Championship Game, and is active for today's game.

Other Giants inactives include running back Danny Ware, cornerback Geoffrey Pope, tackle Adam Koets, defensive tackle Manuel Wright, receiver Sinorice Moss, tight end Jerome Collins and defensive tackle Russell Davis. Jared Lorenzen will be the third quarterback.
