Panthers rookie LaFell now questionable with sore hammy

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers have downgraded rookie wide receiver Brandon LaFell from probable to questionable for their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a sore hamstring.

The Panthers made the move Saturday after their final walkthrough before Sunday's home opener.

LaFell missed practice Wednesday, but he participated in workouts the next two days. The third-round draft pick started Carolina's loss to the New York Giants last Sunday and had two catches for 22 yards.

Dwayne Jarrett likely would start against the Buccaneers if LaFell can't play.
