Lions sign ex-Bears defensive back Vasher; Berry to IR

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have signed former Pro Bowl defensive back Nathan Vasher and put defensive back Aaron Berry on injured reserve after the rookie had season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.

The Chicago Bears released Vasher in March, and Detroit picked him up Tuesday.

He was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Texas and played six seasons with Chicago. Vasher had 19 interceptions for the Bears, including eight in 2005 when he was picked for the Pro Bowl.

Berry was undrafted out of Pitt. He had an interception in Detroit's season-opening loss to the Bears, but left the game after aggravating an injury.
