Linebacker switch: Jags promote Bowen, waive rookie Cutrera

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars have promoted linebacker Alvin Bowen from the practice squad and waived rookie linebacker Jacob Cutrera.

The Jaguars also re-signed wide receiver John Matthews to the practice squad Saturday and waived wide receiver Clarence Denmark from the practice squad.

Bowen has spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks. He played in Seattle's preseason opener and was waived Aug. 17. He spent part of the preseason with Jacksonville.

Matthews began the season on the Jaguars' practice squad before being activated Sept. 11 to play in the team's season opener against the Denver Broncos. He was waived Thursday when the team signed tight end Ernest Wilford.

Denmark had been waived in final cuts Sept. 4 before being signed to the practice squad Monday.
